Macambo, also known as white cacao is the lesser known cousin of the cacao plant. Its brain-shaped seeds grow inside large golden pods found hanging from trees deep in the Peruvian Amazon. It is a nutrient dense food containing 25% protein and 31% fibre by weight. It is very high in healthy fats - 50% are omega fatty acids. It also contains the same theobromine found in cacao beans. Theobromine increases alertness and energy, similar to caffeine but without the crash.
